I haven't used any skin lighteners in soap but I have read that Turmeric EO, about 10-15 drops in 2 ounces of lotion or an oil such as meadowfoam or argan, can help with skin lightening. I use Turmeric in soap as a colorant because of its wonderful properties as an anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidant compound. I have also made a facial mask with it that will help even skin tone and decrease puffiness and inflammation.
Facial Mask:
1.5 tsp Turmeric powder
.5 tsp Turmeric EO
2 tblsp Organic Honey
1tsp Homemade Kefir or plain yogurt
1 tsp Colloidal oatmeal
1tsp Fresh lemon juice
Mix together to form a moderately thick paste that will stick to skin. you can adjust ingredient amounts slightly to thicken or thin. Leave on 20 minutes.
